San Diego, California, November 12, 2018 - The Maritime Alliance, a California-based non-profit organization that promotes sustainable, science-based ocean and water industries, has presented this year’s Environmental Leadership Award to Aker Solutions and Principle Power in recognition of the companies’ efforts in promoting offshore renewable energy and their collaborative approach to development.
The award was received in San Diego, California, during the 10th Annual BlueTech Week, an international exhibition and conference where over 550 senior international participants from academia, industry and government gather to highlight collaboration and innovation in sustainable ocean and water technologies.
“Being recognized at BlueTech Week alongside our partner, Principle Power, with this award signifies the important value of the work we are doing,” said Astrid Onsum, Head of Wind at Aker Solutions. “We look forward to continuing our good work together as we forge a sustainable future with offshore wind solutions.”
“We are proud to receive this award from the Maritime Alliance, alongside our partner Aker Solutions,” said Joao Metelo, CEO of Principle Power. “The Environmental Leadership Award recognizes the innovative and collaborative approach we have taken together and that we believe results in the best outcomes for industry expansion and for meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We appreciate TMA’s great work and thank them for this tremendous acknowledgment.”
Aker Solutions and Principle Power both participated in several areas of the week-long event. The theme for the conference this year was ‘United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - Industry Solutions’, with specific areas of focus including Marine Debris Solutions, Maritime Robotics, Water/Wastewater Technologies, Workforce Development, and Offshore Renewable Energy, the main interest area for both companies.
